Civil War

#18 Oregon Ducks vs Oregon State Beavers
Saturday, 1st December, 4.30pm EST
Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

Two weeks ago, Oregon was entertaining thoughts of winning a national championship. Now it just hopes to win another game. The 18th-ranked Ducks (8-3, 5-3 Pac-10) look to avoid a third straight loss when they host Oregon State (7-4, 5-3) in the 111th edition of the Civil War game Saturday. Not long ago, Oregon was the No. 2 team in the nation and riding a four-game winning streak thanks to Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon. The quarterback was lost for the season, though, when he re-injured his knee in the Ducks' 34-24 loss at Arizona on Nov. 15.

The Ducks and Beavers are tied for third along with UCLA in the conference - one game behind No. 13 Arizona State and eighth-ranked USC. Neither Oregon nor Oregon State holds the tiebreaker over the Bruins, who would win the Pac-10 title and secure a spot in the Rose Bowl in the event there is a four-way tie atop the standings. That would happen if UCLA defeats USC and Arizona State loses to Arizona. The Ducks, who have lost five starters for the year due to injuries and will start a redshirt freshman at quarterback Saturday, are mired in their second straight late-season collapse. Oregon lost its final four games of 2006, including a 38-8 defeat to BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl.

The Beavers look to win their third straight game and sixth in their last seven since starting 2-3. Oregon State, though, hasn't played since a 52-17 win at Washington State on Nov. 17. The Beavers forced a season-high eight turnovers - including seven interceptions - against the Cougars and could be in for another big day against Oregon's struggling offense. Oregon State hopes to have senior running back Yvenson Bernard in the lineup Saturday after he had surgery to clean up his right knee Nov. 20. Bernard rushed for 74 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in limited action against Washington State.

Lights dimmed on Ducks

(This entry was written with 3:30 left in 4th Quarter)

Should Dennis Dixon stay healthy last week and judging from the way Ducks played early in the 1st quarter, Ducks would have easily beat the Wildcats. And Ducks would sit pretty at #2.

Should Dennis Dixon stay healthy this week, Ducks would have no problem outclassing UCLA; and with #1 LSU Tigers downed by Arkansas, Ducks would have been #1 when the new poll released on Monday.

Hopes are still high even without Dixon for Ducks to finish top of the Pac-10 and play in at least Rose Bowl or even Fiesta Bowl on 1st January. But, after three quarters of shutout by the Bruins, I dare not to hope, no one would. I didn't even stay up to watch the ESPN Gamecast like what I did many months before.

As I was sleeping next to my notebook and the ESPN Gamecast was showcassing Ducks-Bruins game, I occasionally open my eyes to look at the score and Ducks score didn't change - 0. I know Bruins are also having troubles to score with only a field goal in each of the quarter but Ducks are having more troubles - they're without even a field goal in every quarter. And I saw Ducks are using even its 4th QB, I don't know what happened to Bloody Brady Leaf but he just couldn't connect, the way Dixon did. Please don't remind me that Brady is the brother of NFL star QB, Ryan - this doesn't add value!

Anyway, it's been a season to remember. So close - to the National Championship and Heisman in Dixon - yet so far. I'll now set my mind to Holiday Bowl in San Diego on 27/12 or maybe Sun Bowl in El Paso on 31/12.
Oh... the game has just ended 0 to the Ducks and 16 to the Bruins. It was the first time Ducks been shutout since losing to Michigan 0-63 22 years ago.

A bit of recap of Ducks-Bruins game: Leaf left the field injured late in the 1st quarter. Jonathan Stewart, couldn't carry the team by himself as he has been hampered by a sore right big toe. The Pac-10's leading rusher with a 127.3-yard per game average was held to only 33 yards on 13 carries. And interestingly, out from nowhere, UCLA would get the Rose Bowl bid should UCLA upset USC and Arizona top No. 7 Arizona State on the last day of the regular season next week.

To the left, to the left

If you're in Malaysia now, Kuala Lumpur shouldn't be your destination this weekend. There'll be roadblocks by the police in major roads going into the city and for the second time this month, there'll be another large-scale gathering, this time organized by Hindraf "to submit a petition with 100,000 signatures to Queen Elizabeth II to appoint a Queen's Counsel to represent the Indian community in a class action suit against the British government for bringing Indians as laborers to the then Malaya and exploiting them" (The Star).

Well, if you think Kuala Lumpur is not safe, why not head to the opposite direction, Klang? There, you can visit the famous Istana Zakaria, without having to fear of getting caught or sprayed with chemicals by the police, though the mansion was built without approval thus, illegal. And it's free too, which money you can save for next year in helping the government to save RM380mil in payout to highway concessionaires by increasing toll rates!

Usually, those illegal things, opposition sides are called lefties. I just don't get why left is always considered bad when in fact those who are lefthanded are mostly creative people washing you butt after you poo poo must be creative, too, eh?. So, is being creative bad? I don't know...

Anyway, this is the best performance for me at the recent American Music Award. Enjoy! To the left to the left... (you may mute my imeem playlist to enjoy this video)

So, if you're in Malaysia now, where are you heading to this weekend? To the left, to the left... whatever that means...

==
The suit, filed at the Royal Courts of Justice in London by Hindraf chief, seeks compensation of up to US$4tril or US$1mil for every Indian in Malaysia. Samy Vellu should seriously urge the government to support this cause, which the government could use part of the US$4tril to bail pay highway concessionaires.

Oregon at UCLA

#9 Oregon Ducks vs UCLA Bruins
Saturday, 24th November, 3.30pm EST
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA

The ninth-ranked Ducks look to bounce back from for a devastating loss and remain in the Pac-10 title chase when they visit battered UCLA on Saturday. Dixon re-injured his knee early in the Ducks' 34-24 road loss to unranked Arizona on Nov. 15, crushing his hopes of winning the Heisman Trophy. The defeat ruined Oregon's hopes of winning a national title as it committed four turnovers and allowed Arizona to score on an interception and a punt return.

The Ducks will have to do it without Dennis Dixon but to rely on running back Jonathan Stewart. Stewart rushed for 131 yards on 28 carries against Arizona, and has 1,273 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. He ran for 121 yards on 20 carries in Oregon's 30-20 win over UCLA last year.

The Bruins were idle last week and most recently lost 24-20 at home to then-No. 9 Arizona State on Nov. 10. UCLA, which beat then-No. 10 California 30-21 on Oct. 20 for its only win in its last five contests, used its fourth quarterback of the season against the Sun Devils. Sophomore Osaar Rasshan, converted to receiver and then back to quarterback after the Bruins lost their first two quarterbacks to injuries, was 14-for-27 for 181 yards with an interception. He also ran for 41 yards on 13 carries.

UCLA averaged 32.4 points in starting 4-1, but since the injuries began to accumulate, the Bruins have averaged 18.0 points in their last five games. UCLA will try to avoid a fourth straight home loss to the Ducks, dating to a 34-29 win on Oct. 9, 1999.

Go Ducks!

I just call to say (part III)

background song: Harmoni (Zubir Ali)'s Penantian

Berapa lama mesti kunanti, sinar cahaya matamu...
Gemerlap bagai bintang, menghiasi malam...
Malam yang menutup diriku.
Penantian suatu siksa, yang tidak tertanggung...
Oleh tubuhku yang kering dan layu...
Kepastian suatu penawar, dalam suka dan duka
Yang meniti hidupku...

One waited since the last call on October 25, 2007 which one went on for an appointment two days afterwards.

25 days later, one received a call from a familiar number. One was in a conference and has to make his way out from the hall to take the call. Ironically, it was the same venue two years ago when One received a call which brought a new phase of life to One. Call it a place with good omen for One, One doesn't care.

One was required to send some documents for further review, which One did two days after the call. One was told to wait for maybe another week or two, for the next call.

One continues to wait.

Penantian suatu siksa, yang tidak tertanggung.....

And One's 2-week wait for someone to return from Australia has ended.. *a big grin*

And One is a top bloke, who blogs, whom someone call people like One goblok, who have coffee every morning. And One's coffee tastes better and sweeter in the new mug!

Kepastian suatu penawar, dalam suka dan duka.....

Kenapa Siti pilih Lelaki A?

(background song: Julio Iglesias' To All the Girls I've Loved Before)

To all the girls I've loved before friends, readers of my blog,

I've not much to blog these days, partly because of Oregon Ducks failure to sustain the pace to play in the championship match come New Year day. Call it the year of #2 upset (with 5 #2 teams lost this year), the best Ducks could hope for with two games remaining is Rose Bowl.

And not much happened to me these days, too. Primetime news is no longer a must-watch thing for me. I'd even trade snooker on ESPN than watching the propaganda-filled primetime news. Oh did I mentioned that I terminated movie channels on Astro (which now shows old and boring movies when I could get them free from internet) and save RM34 per month?

Just to let everyone knows that I'm still alive.

And here's a jokes for you, this was told during one event that I helped organize and before Siti Nurhaliza got married to Datuk Seri KJ (It's Khalid Jiwa not KJ nak termuntah kalau Khairy Jamaludin dapat Datuk Seri)...

"Ada dua orang lelaki hensem, berkumis, ganteng yang meminati Siti Nurhaliza. Dan Siti pun berdepan dengan dilema untuk memilih yang mana satu idaman kalbu... lelaki A ni bukanlah seorang yang romantis, tak pandai bermadah pujangga. Kalau berkomunikasi dengan Siti pun hanya melalui sms dan hanya menggunakan bhs sms yg semuanya diringkas-ringkaskan, cth: Hi, pkbr? Dh mkn? I br nk g lnch dgn kwn2. Ctch up ltr, k!

Persoalannya, walaupun sifat keromantisan Lelaki B selalu menambat hati Siti, kenapakah Siti memilih Lelaki A?"

Sila kemukan jawapan anda dalam ruang comments.
Takde hadiah laa, tapi kalau aku ada jumpa pemenang nya, aku belanja lah makan...
Jawapannya akan diumum 10 hari dari sekarang...

#2 Ducks downed

The curse of No. 2 claimed another victim.

Second-ranked Oregon lost Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon to a knee injury and never recovered in a 34-24 upset by Arizona on Thursday night. Oregon (8-2, 5-2 Pac-10) became the fifth No. 2 team to lose since Oct. 6, following USC, California, South Florida and Boston College. The Ducks' defeat could open the door for third-ranked Oklahoma in The Associated Press Top 25, and for No. 3 Kansas in the Bowl Championship Series standings.

Dixon, Oregon's gifted starting quarterback, hurt his left knee in the first quarter, about 7 minutes after he ran 39 yards for a touchdown. Dixon crumpled to the turf without being touched and took Oregon's national championship hopes with him. "My foot got planted in the ground, and my knee went the other way," Dixon told ESPN toward the end of the game.

Antoine Cason returned a punt 56 yards for a touchdown and an interception 42 yards for another score as the Wildcats shook up the national title race on a cool night in the desert. Red-clad students poured out of the grandstand as the Wildcats (5-6, 4-4) ambushed a ranked team in Arizona Stadium for the fourth straight season under coach Mike Stoops.

Brady Leaf, who replaced Dixon, completed 22 of 46 passes for 163 yards and threw two interceptions. Dixon finished 5-of-8 for 62 yards, and threw an interception. He carried twice for 34 yards. Arizona quarterback Willie Tuitama completed 21 of 39 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns, and was intercepted once. Mike Thomas caught two touchdown passes for the Wildcats. Oregon's Jonathan Stewart carried 28 times for 131 yards.

Early on, Oregon appeared to be on cruise control with Dixon running its potent offense, which came in averaging 42.8 points per game, fifth in the nation. The Ducks opened the game with a brisk seven-play, 70-yard scoring drive. On fourth-and-3 at the Arizona 39, Dixon froze the defense with a fake to Stewart, burst through a hole in the right side and ran untouched to the end zone. Ed Dickson ran for the 2-point conversion to put the Ducks ahead 8-0.

Oregon drove to the Arizona 4 on its next possession. Dixon fired a pass that bounced off Derrick Jones' hands, and safety Nate Ness grabbed the deflection and ran it out to the 45. Four plays later, the Wildcats scored on a 34-yard pass from Tuitama to Thomas, cutting Oregon's lead to 8-7. Then came the play that altered the national title race.

On second and 7 at the Arizona 15, Dixon's left knee buckled as he wheeled to his left on an option play. Dixon had sprained the same knee Nov. 3 against Arizona State, and wore a brace against Arizona. With older brother Ryan Leaf watching, Leaf replaced Dixon and completed his first pass. But Cason intercepted Leaf's third throw and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown to put the Wildcats ahead 17-11 early in the second quarter. That started an Arizona avalanche.

Tuitama hit Thomas for a 46-yard score and Cason's 56-yard punt return put the Wildcats ahead 31-11 with 5:30 to play in the first half. Trailing 31-14 early in the third quarter, Oregon had a 13-yard touchdown run by Stewart nullified on a holding penalty against receiver Garren Strong. The Ducks settled for a 34-yard field goal by Matt Evensen. Oregon pulled within seven on Andre Crenshaw's 2-yard touchdown run with 7:53 to go in the game. Arizona answered with an 11-play drive that ended in Jason Bondzio's 46-yard field goal with 3:20 to go.

Oregon is the highest-ranked visitor to lose at Arizona since the Wildcats knocked off No. 1 Washington on Nov. 7, 1992.

Oregon at Arizona

#2 Oregon Ducks vs Arizona Wildcats
Thursday, 15th November, 9.00pm EST
Arizona Stadium, Tucson, AZ

thanks Yahoo!

The recent bye week was beneficial for Dennis Dixon and the entire Oregon program. With their quarterback healthy and expected to start, the second-ranked Ducks return to action Thursday night when they visit Arizona in a Pac-10 matchup.

Oregon (8-1, 5-1) hasn't played since beating then-No. 6 Arizona State 35-23 on Nov. 3 to hand the Sun Devils their first loss of the season. It came a week after the Ducks beat then-No. 9 Southern California 24-17. The Ducks moved into the No. 3 spot in the poll following the win over Arizona State and went up one more position last week without playing after then-No. 1 Ohio State was upset by Illinois. Oregon's current ranking is its highest since ending the 2001 season at No. 2.

Oregon is also second in the BCS standings and could possibly earn a spot in the national title game - or at least the Rose Bowl - if it wins its final three games, starting Thursday at Arizona (4-6, 3-4). The Ducks will be trying for a sixth straight road win in the series, but the Wildcats snapped a seven-game overall losing streak to Oregon with a 37-10 victory last Nov. 18. After Thursday, Oregon plays at UCLA before closing the season at home versus Oregon State.

Dixon, who completed 13 of 22 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns against Arizona State, is likely to start despite spraining his left knee in the fourth quarter of that game. The Heisman Trophy candidate has thrown for 2,074 yards with 20 touchdowns and rushed for 549 yards and eight scores. He's had time to heal and appears healthy enough to help the Ducks try for their fifth consecutive victory since a 31-24 home loss to then-No. 6 California on Sept. 29. The 6-foot-4 senior hopes for a better outing against Arizona on Thursday after going 14-for-22 for 88 yards with three interceptions in last season's loss.

While Dixon and the nation's fifth-ranked offense are averaging 41.7 points during the four-game winning streak, Oregon's defense has played better than its No. 74 ranking in recent weeks. The Ducks have forced five turnovers in their last two games, held USC to its lowest point total of the season and recorded nine sacks against Arizona State. Oregon, though, must overcome the loss of starting middle linebacker John Bacon, who will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.

Arizona, meanwhile, was also idle last weekend and will try for its third straight win after beating UCLA 34-27 on Nov. 3. Junior Willie Tuitama was 21-for-36 for 341 yards and three touchdowns for the Pac-10's top passing offense against the Bruins. Tuitama, eighth in the nation with 314.5 passing yards per contest, has thrown for 851 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception in his last two games, which included a 48-41 win at Washington on Oct. 27.

Tuitama has thrown for 3,145 yards and needs 183 to set the school's single-season record. He was efficient in last season's win over Oregon, going 8-for-9 for 120 yards and two touchdowns. Arizona is looking to avoid its third consecutive loss to a Top 25 opponent since a 24-20 victory over then-No. 8 California on Nov. 11, 2006.

Go Ducks!

Cornful, perutful and bloody fool

It's been a week now since my last entry. Seriously there's nothing much happened last week as watching Primetime News now is just like watching another tv commercial sponsored by the ruling party.

Syawal is over, thank God! Last week, I had another round open houses and open departments, which someone refer to as "Sambutan Lebarkan (your waistline)" instead of "Sambutan Lebaran". Went to lunamayalunamaya's open house to catch up with my ex-bosses who are now bosses in other places and ex-colleagues, besides one of the bestest nasi dagang I ever had (note 1). And Puan Lat brought 'kacang rebus' which she said best served to bloggers (like me) whom KJ described as monkeys.

Had 'cornful' discussion too (note 2), lots of them, which I've been prewarned not to publish in my blog. Miss all of you! I don't intend to post any pix here, they're not pretty chicks, trust me! and I miss the laksa in Abg Zainal's open house, it was so good... trust me! And I miss my pre-Lebaran weight and waistline, trust me!

Trust me, nothing much happened except for the tens of thousand of people gathered in Dataran Merdeka rallying and calling for a fairer and more transparent election, or whatever. Trust me nothing much happened until the police squad sprayed chemicals to disperse those people. Then a lot of things happened.

And the police chief is trying to find some Acts to charge these people, which I think he should take precedence if he couldn't find any Act related. What about the one when KJ and the crooks Pukimaktera Amno who protested during Condy's visit in July last year to attend the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting. They burned US flags an effigy of Condy, beat an effigy of Bush with sticks and KJ was heard shouting, "Dr. Rice, I will not leave until you come out!" (read here). Was the protest/rally legal (I mean with permit, not based on the subjective judgment of the government and police)?

And ohhh I think beruk is KJ's favorite pet. From http://thecicak.com/ : The prime minister’s son in law urged the police to arrest the participants of the Bersih gathering because no police permit was issued, therefore making it haram. He advised opposition supporters not to act like beruks and challenged them to take the fight to the elections and not the streets. He also called them hypocrites. This came after calling bloggers monkeys. And I've black ass, try trust me! and surely I'm not a red-ass monkey.

And ohh.. University of Oregon football was idle last week but the lost of Ohio State propelled the Ducks to rank #2 which if the Ducks win the next three games will see them playing in the National Championship game in Sugar Bowl, New Orleans. QB Dennis Dixon has further stamped his mark as the leading candidate for the Heisman award.

Besides those, nothing much happened, especially when someone is away, far far away...

Btw, check out Elf's tribute to Allahyarham Tan Sri P. Ramlee, it's hillarious and this explains why this Aci Aci Bukak Pintu song is stucked in my head and I've this song as my ringtone now. :-)

Note 1: If you're thinking of serving Laksa Johor for your open house, try Top Line Caterer Sdn Bhd, tel no: 03-2693 4625 or 03-2692 7860. I'm doing this for free ok, just like TV3 advertizing government's propaganda during primetime news for free.

Note 2: I'll now use 'cornful' instead of fruitful, to take pride of the successful of corn-growing project of the NCER, which the government is really proud of and make a big hu-ha about it.

While you're away

I am having fun, yeah!
At the same time, widening my waist, yeah!
Oh yeah, with lots of pretty chicks err makciks err ladies.
You would've been in the pictures if you're around.
Anyway, I know you're having good times, too, with koala bears there. :-)

That shows how you're missed here.
And, you should be more worried if I take lots of pictures with pretty boys than those pretty chicks err makciks err ladies. :-)
I also need to keep myself busy and my stomach full so that I don't feel lonely .
And I don't want to isolate myself especially away from girls foods.

Joe, this article is for you, too... hahahaha
Think again if you want to make your blog private.
Online friends pun ok, apa?
At least these online friends care if you 'mampus' ke tak there in US.
I'm dead, man, if Joe is deeply offended with this statement

Delinn je tak berani nak ambil gambar berdua-duaan dengan aku, aku tak tau kenapa?

Aci apa lagi part II

recap

Remember when we were kids, when Malaysian badminton team won tournaments like Thomas Cup, every kid in the neighbourhood would pick up badminton racket and play badminton.

Remember when we were kids when police sentry is almost a compulsary game during recess besides soccer, aci jengket, galah panjang, aci nyorok, bla bla bla. I just don't know why police sentry was so popular those days despite the low salary policemen were getting and I doubt every kids who played police sentry wanted to be policemen when they grow up.

Anyway, would our kids remember police sentry anymore when they grow up? Would police role in the game continue to be the good side and thieves continue to be the bad ones? I don't think so these days.

True to what I thought earlier, this RM27-million cop is suspended (as per news last Saturday).
Huh? That was like 3-4 days from the day I thought the thought when the Chief cop took the action. Maybe I'm smarter than that Jalaluddin Hassan oppss Musa Hassan.

Arizona St 23, Oregon 35

Picked to finish in the middle of the Pac-10, Oregon has thrust itself into the heart of national title race. Dennis Dixon threw four touchdown passes before leaving with an injury and the fourth-ranked Ducks defeated No. 6 Arizona State 35-23 on Saturday, their second consecutive victory over a Top 10 team.

When it ended, students poured out of the grandstand and mobbed the Ducks at midfield. Last week, the Ducks beat Southern California to set up the West Coast's biggest game of the season -- Oregon was in fifth-place in the latest BCS standings while Arizona State was fourth.

Oregon's victory could be costly. Dixon, a Heisman Trophy contender, was hurt on a run early in the fourth quarter and did not return, though he was up and hopping on the sideline late in the game. Dixon completed 13-of-22 passes for 189 yards and four touchdowns, and he also ran for 57 yards. "I kind of twisted my knee," Dixon said. "It's a little bit sore. But I didn't hear a pop, so that's good."

Oregon's quarterback Dennis Dixon (10) out runs Arizona State's Travis Goethel (44) in the first quarter of their college football game Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in Eugene , Ore. Oregon defeated Arizona State 35-23.

On a clear, crisp afternoon in the Willamette Valley, the largest crowd to attend a football game in the state, 53,379, turned out to watch the Ducks (8-1, 5-1 Pac-10) hand the Sun Devils (8-1, 5-1) their first defeat. Arizona State came into the game as one of five undefeated teams in major college football, with its own hopes for a national title run. Oregon ended those hopes behind the deft playmaking of Dixon. The Sun Devils also had trouble stopping tailback Jonathan Stewart, who ran for 99 yards, including a 33-yard touchdown. Meanwhile, the Ducks' oft-maligned defense sacked ASU's Rudy Carpenter eight times. The Ducks jumped ahead 21-3 and never trailed.

Oregon's lone loss came in the final minute against then-No. 6 California on Sept. 29. That defeat galvanized the Ducks, who have four straight. Arizona State remains very much in the Rose Bowl picture despite the loss. The game pitted the Pac-10's top offense against its toughest defense. The Ducks averaged 43.8 points per game coming in, third in the nation, while the Sun Devils allowed 16.1 points.

Yes, I put on weight

That's my answer to Arc's question. I thought I should get a new scale because of the one I have at home adds 2kgs to my pre-Lebaran reading but not after Arc brutally asked me that question the first time she saw me this morning.

Thus, I want to dedicate this 'achievement' to those who have invited me to their open houses - Niza of Affin Investment, fellow taggers Nini and Elf, Kuntum, open surau and open offices that happened last week. And just to clarify, this 'achievement' has nothing to do with my Kuntum who is vacationing in Australia.

Elf's open house was great - with nice foods (as in other open houses I attended), otherwise I won't be there for almost four hours. Went there with Yam who was summoned to pick me up at 2pm sharp but she was over-punctual since Delinn said that her exam would finish by 1pm. We arrived at Elf's house by then only to find out that Delinn's exam will only finish at around 2.45pm - which she arrived like around 4pm. Angah+Wan and Arc were on their way out when we arrived, we missed Fara and were joined later by OB,Combi and two other aweks.

The 'mi ibu mertuaku' was great. I did ask Elf what type of mi was that - mi rebus or mi bandung or mi whatchamacallit? And Elf only said it's Famil's her mother-in-law's secret recipe which she calls 'mi ibu mertuaku'. I'm out of words to describe how good it was. And Delinn would be out of words too as she was really busy enjoying it. We wanted to stay on for dinner until Mira quietly asked her mom, "Kawan mama ni tidur sini ke?" Like mom like daughter lah meks ni.

Oregon vs Arizona State

#4 Oregon Ducks vs #6 Arizona State Sun Devils
Saturday, 3rd November, 6.40pm ET
Autzen Stadium, Eugene, OR

thanks Yahoo!

Expectations were not high for Oregon and Arizona State given their absence from the AP preseason poll. Now, a Pac-10 title and spot in the Bowl Championship Series title game could be in the offering for both teams.

The fourth-ranked Ducks and No. 6 Sun Devils meet in a pivotal matchup at Autzen Stadium on Saturday as each program looks to move closer to a conference title and potential BCS berth.
Before this season began, Arizona State (8-0, 5-0) was picked to finish fourth in the Pac-10, two spots ahead of Oregon (7-1, 4-1).

But the Sun Devils have exceeded those predictions by jumping into first place in the league and climbing to fourth in the latest BCS standings. They have not won the Pac-10 title since 1996, when they won their first 11 games before losing to Ohio State 20-17 in the Rose Bowl.

The Ducks, meanwhile, were ranked fifth in the latest BCS standings, and are coming off an impressive 24-17 home win over national powerhouse and preseason No. 1 USC on Saturday. The victory moved them up one place in the AP poll. Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon, who has been receiving Heisman Trophy hype, directs an offense that is fourth in the nation in yards (524.4 per game) and is fifth in scoring (43.8 points per game). He ranks sixth nationally in passing efficiency (160.3), and has thrown 16 touchdowns to only three interceptions.

Along with Dixon in the backfield, Oregon also features one of the top running backs in the nation with Jonathan Stewart averaging 130.4 yards. Stewart ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns against USC, and has amassed 354 rushing yards and four TDs in his last two games. He gained 142 yards on just 12 carries in last year's win over the Sun Devils. Oregon, which suffered its only loss of the season at home to then-No. 6 California on Sept. 29, has not won a Pac-10 title since 2001.

The Ducks were limited to a season-low 339 yards last Saturday, and face another tough challenge against the Sun Devils, who are holding opponents to an average of 91.1 rushing yards, 11th best in the country. Arizona State is also limiting opponents to 15.6 points per game -- best in the Pac-10 and seventh in the nation -- and has a conference-high 14 interceptions. The Sun Devils' offense has also been stellar, trailing only Oregon in scoring in the Pac-10 at 36.9 points per game. But quarterback Rudy Carpenter may be limited with a sprained thumb on his throwing hand.

Arizona State came up with another second-half rally after falling behind 13-0 in the first quarter, the third time they have overcome an early double-digit deficit. The Sun Devils spotted Colorado a 14-0 first-quarter lead before storming back for a 33-14 victory on Sept. 8, and two weeks later, trailed Oregon State 19-0 after one quarter before rallying for a 44-32 victory. The Sun Devils have lost the last two games between the two teams, but have won their last two at Oregon.

Go Ducks!

'Nothing' happened

Nothing much happened this week or to brag about.

In the media, it's all about the economic corridors. From 'weeping tears in the past' aka Wilayah Ekonomi Pantai Timur (WEPT) to the one in the north (NCER) which TV3 Primetime News dubbed as had 'membuahkan' hasil. The 'buah' isn't about the employment opportunities it created or the FDIs that came in or the increase GDP for nothern states people. Instead it's really 'fruitful - the corn they grew which now are ready to be marketed, not overseas but in Tesco stores nationwide.

Well, do we really need economic region/coridor to grow corns which will then be sold locally? Ahh, and anyone dares to challenge me that those corns sold in pasar malam taste much better than those sold in hypermarkets? I wonder in which economic corridor they grow those corns sold in pasar malam?

Besides that, nothing much happened this week or to brag about.

Oh yeah what about the top police officer who confessed that he's the one being investigated by the ACA on his undeclared RM27 million worth of wealth?

If I'm not mistaken, anyone under the probe of ACA (especially top government officials, I assume) should be suspended or go on leave until the investigation finished. Yet, he is still planning to go to umrah and haji by end of the year when I think a person being investigated isn't allowed to leave the country until he/she is proven innocent. Well, they're the untouchable cops and they're getting more budget to buy bullet-proof vests and someone will be rich selling bullet-proof vests.

Oopppsss... besides these, nothing much happened this week or to brag about.

Anyway, just got something from someone who just returned fom somewhere...

and if everything goes well (amieennn), my parents will be sending their son to the 'moon' in 2010 if not earlier (amieennn)
